Wow - what a momentous occasion. I do believe this is the first post, on any Forum, here at cameracollectors.net

Come on people. There must be thousands of camera collectors around the world. Where are you all?

I'm from a small town in New Zealand, and am a freelance designer/photographer - shooting weddings mainly. I've been a 'photographer' for over twenty years - first as a serious hobbyist, and then as a profession.

Technically I don't actually have a camera collection - yet. But I've been thinking about it a lot recently, and I'm going to take the plunge.

I aim to collect for love - not money, so have decided to collect Canon SLR film cameras from the FD mount up - starting with the F1 from 1971 and going through to the EOS Rebel T2 from 2004.

I've decided on this series because a) I am a Canon fan and have used them all my life b) it will include many of the cameras I 'grew up with' that mean a lot to me emotionally, and c) I had to start somewhere :-)

So come on everybody. Let me know your background, what yo collect, and how you got started. That's what this is all about after all - isn't it?
